What is the purpose of this 300*300 iron plate (part number d)? I would be grateful if someone with more expertise could help me figure this out. 2. I also created a 3D diagram; I’m not sure if it matches the drawings. I would appreciate it if an expert could take a look at it (I didn’t replace the pipe clamps to save time). 3. The customer requests holes to be made in the ring pipe. Please advise at which positions along the circumference these holes should be made, and whether there are any standards regarding the diameter, number, and size of these holes
A 300*300 iron plate; from the 3D diagram, it seems to be used for fixing the inner ring, and it needs to be made into an arc shape. The diameter and number of holes are related to the cross-sectional area of the main pipe, with the total area of the holes being approximately 72% of the cross-sectional area of the main pipe.
The 3D model was created based on my own understanding of the drawings, not provided by the client. As for the arc on that 300*300 iron plate, it’s also something I imagined on my own; I’m not sure if it matches the original intention of the person who created the design. Do you mean 72% in terms of the outer diameter of the ring pipe, or the total internal area of it?
The cross-sectional area of a pipe is the area of its diameter.

With such large pads inside the ring plates, and a 300*300 steel plate attached to each support ring, won’t that cover up the areas where leaks might occur? After all, the diameter of this fire ring is only 1070 mm. (This fire suppression ring is used by being pressed between two flanges; the outer diameter of the flanges is 750 mm, as indicated in the lower left corner of the drawing.) See the figure below:

But as can be seen from the image above, if such large shims are used and holes are made on the inner side of the ring pipe, won’t these shims block the connection points of the ring pipe’s spray flanges? (The client at the construction site explained to me that the openings on the inside of the ring pipe should be used to spray directly at the joint between the two flanges, so as to facilitate firefighting in case a fire occurs due to a failure in the flange sealing. But I really can’t understand why the gasket has to be such a large size.)
