Zeng Zhaoluan (May 25, 1899 – December 8, 1967) was one of the pioneers in introducing modern Western chemistry to China, a founder of organic chemistry in China, one of the key founders of the Chinese Chemical Society, a renowned expert in defense chemistry, and a military commentator during the War of Resistance against Japan. Academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. In 1915, he was admitted to the Tsinghua Preparatory School for Studying in the United States (the predecessor of Tsinghua University) ; In 1920, he entered MIT in the United States to study chemistry and chemical engineering ; In 1926, he received a Doctor of Science degree from that institution. He returned to the country that same summer, and successively served as a technician at the Guangzhou Ordnance Testing Factory, as an associate professor in the Department of Chemistry at Nanjing Central University, and as the head of the Chemical Engineering department ; In 1931, he became a professor and head of the Department of Chemistry at Peking University. In 1937, the July 7th Incident broke out; he served as a professor in the Department of Chemistry at the Southwest Associated University until the victory in the War of Resistance. In November 1945, Zeng Zhaoluan returned to Beiping to take charge of the Department of Chemistry at Peking University ; In 1946, he went to the United States to study atomic bombs, and returned to Beiping in 1949. After the establishment of the People’s Republic of China, Zeng Zhaoluan held various important positions, including Dean of Academic Affairs and Head of the Department of Chemistry at Peking University, Vice Minister of Education and Head of the Department of Higher Education, Member of the Academic Committee of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Director of the Institute of Chemistry. In 1958, he became a professor in the Department of Chemistry at Wuhan University.
Under his leadership, the Department of Chemistry at Wuhan University quickly established a teaching and research section for organoelemental chemistry, making it one of the first institutions in China to carry out teaching and research in this field. He edited lecture notes totaling over 2 million words, personally taught specialized courses such as chemical literature and organoelemental chemistry, and went on to establish research groups focused on organosilicon, organofluorine, organoboron, and organoelemental polymers.
Are they also studying atomic bombs? But he was not among the pioneers of the two bombs and one satellite project
At the end of 1950, the People’s Liberation Army began to establish a corps specialized in chemical defense. In 1951, a chemical warfare school was established in Beijing (the predecessor of the PLA Academy of Chemical Defense Command and Engineering), with an urgent need to train a group of technical officers to fill teaching and command positions. The General Office of Military Training dispatched personnel to the Ministry of Education to make contact, and the Ministry of Education assigned Zeng Zhaoluan to take charge. Zeng Zhaoluan still found time amidst his busy duties to personally teach these cadres the main courses in defense chemistry and guide them through related experiments. From 1951 to 1953, Peking University held three sessions of training courses for chemical defense soldiers, and Zeng Zhaoluan taught them in all three sessions. Going forward, these trainees all became key figures in teaching and research at the PLA Academy of Chemical Defense, as well as technical officers in chemical defense forces.
The Department of Chemistry at Peking University embodies the dedication of Zeng Zhaoluan. Teacher Tang Aoqing was also once a student of Teacher Zeng. 【HaiChuan. This post was last edited by Zhi Zi Ming on 2017-9-22 at 21:58. During his tenure as a professor at National Central University and Peking University, Zeng Zhaozheng consistently offered courses on defense chemistry to impart military knowledge to students. His field of chemical defense is a chemical discipline that originated from the development of the \"two bombs\".
Rivals are enemies… Nonsense! Well said; such a viewpoint will only prevent our science and technology from progressing, at least it will surely slow things down!
It has successively established research groups for silicone, organofluorine, organoboron, and elemental organic polymers. It is estimated that this represents the prototype and foundation for several more research institutes
Another one of the founders of a school
wherever this genius went to the chemistry department of a university, he created a new academic discipline there – Peking University, Central University, Wuhan University
If the Deputy Minister of Education remains in office, greater achievements can be made. In just 9 years at Wuhan University, he developed so many new branches within organic chemistry. It’s sad to think about that crazy era, how many scientists it wasted.
