The ammonia tank in the device experienced overpressure, and the water seal tank failed to maintain its water seal, which led to the rupture of the ammonia tank due to overpressure. I’m not sure what caused this. Please help analyze it. The ammonia tank is 8 meters tall, with the water seal tank located at the bottom of the tank, 6 meters above the top of the tank. A normal water seal tank should be located on top of the tank, but ours is below it – is there a problem with the design? See the diagram. Thank you very much
Is the vapor pipe inserted too deep into the water seal tank? Is the outlet of the water seal tank blocked?

Additionally, the outlet of the water seal tank is blocked; due to the lack of water replacement over a long period, the water level is too low, causing ammonia to react with carbon dioxide in the air to form ammonium carbonate crystals.
Our water seal valve remains open, with water flowing continuously
The fact that the water seal valve remains open and water keeps flowing does not mean that the gas phase outlet is not blocked. To confirm that there is no blockage, the water supply must be turned off and water must still flow out slowly from the overflow port.
I don’t understand why, with the water inlet closed, water is still flowing out of the overflow port – this should indicate that there is no blockage. Could you explain this? Thank you

When the water inflow is stopped, water flows out from the overflow port, which indicates that the water is absorbing ammonia; as its amount increases, it will gradually flow out through the overflow port. If it doesn’t flow out for an extended period, it means the water is no longer absorbing ammonia, or it has reached saturation in terms of ammonia absorption; in that case, there is a possibility of blockage.

What is the material of this ammonia tank? It’s not PP or some other plastic, right? Are the problems caused by aging of the material itself?
I think it’s not overpressure that breaks the jar, but vacuum. If ammonia is discharged from the tank and water continues to flow into the water seal tube, then the gas phase tube will be filled with water, resulting in a vacuum of up to 8 meters of water column; it’s inevitable that the tank will break under such conditions. The water seal tank is located on the top of the tank – this is the result of many lessons learned; do not change it casually
My first impression was the same as that on the 10th floor – I thought it was caused by a vacuum break rather than positive pressure.
