Dear experts, I have a question regarding the rated power of heating furnaces. Generally, the rated power and thermal efficiency are indicated on the nameplate of a heating furnace. Does this rated power refer to the power delivered by the furnace to the material being heated, or it refers to the power generated by the furnace itself? Thank you all.
It should be the power of the furnace itself; the rated power of a furnace is generally the medium’s power plus a margin
Is it the power delivered to the process medium?
Under normal conditions, it will be higher than the power obtained from the process medium

We* usually calculate the load required by the medium, and then multiply it by a coefficient to obtain the rated power
It is the power resulting from the increase in the enthalpy of the working fluid; the thermal efficiency can be determined from this power to calculate the fuel consumption
I think for electric furnaces, it generally refers to the input electrical power, while for fuel boilers, it is calculated based on the output power
Rated heat load: The heat load that the heating furnace can achieve under rated operating conditions. Heat transfer rate of the process medium (100% operating condition) = rated heat load of the heating furnace * combustion efficiency * heat transfer efficiency (including heat losses) / design margin. The combustion efficiency of the burners is generally above 99%, and when the designed heat load is less than 2500 kW, the heat transfer efficiency is ≥85% ; When the designed heat load is ≥ 2500 kw, the heat transfer efficiency is ≥ 90% ; For details, refer to the relevant requirements in Section 5.1 of SY/T0538-2012 \"Specifications for Tubular Heating Furnaces\"
The rated power is the power transmitted by the heating furnace to the medium
