Dear seniors, I have a water tank at normal pressure with a temperature of 70°C; the water contains a small amount of H2S, and the steam escaping from the top of the tank has an unpleasant odor. I am now collecting this steam. If a vent valve is installed on the tank, how should it be selected? I’m not sure how to determine the volume of breathing; I wonder if appropriate formulas or standard references can be used for this purpose. Calculations regarding the breathing volume of oils are common, but I’m not sure if those can be used as a reference Thank you!

H2S itself is a very strong hydrogen permeation agent; it can cause steel to corrode and crack; First, consider corrosion resistance; parameter selection should not be a major issue, after all, it’s just an atmospheric pressure water tank ; 2. Since collection is necessary, the necessity and rationale for installing a vent valve become less clear ;

Thank you for your reply. 1: The H2S material has been taken into consideration; the H2S content is low and the operating conditions are not too severe, so the industry standard for this application is 316L ; 2: I want to collect the water vapor gas (containing H2S) from the top of the tank, but the tank is at atmospheric pressure and the equipment is also designed for such conditions. When using a fan to draw in the gas, there is a risk that the water tank might get flattened; therefore, a vent valve needs to be installed to avoid this problem. Thank you for your reply. Once it’s connected directly to the spraying equipment, what next? Still use a fan to blow it away? Spraying inside the equipment doesn’t yield good results, after all, the H2S concentration is very low
