Recently, I saw a flowchart created by a foreigner, in which the level gauge is set as shown in the figure below. Where does the liquid level measured by the part of the level gauge that is coiled in the cloud indicate the liquid level of? There are also high and low level alarms. I personally feel it’s difficult to maintain a certain height of air column here, right? If it is to measure the liquid level in the tube side, why not install a level gauge between the inlet and outlet? I hope some teachers will be kind enough to offer their guidance.

The pipe bank controls the heat exchange area, replacing the conventional control method that uses an inlet steam control valve together with a drain valve; I can understand this control approach. Although the control part in this process is not located at the reboiler. What I’m wondering now is how to measure the liquid level in the tube side using this type of level gauge? It seems to be a differential pressure level gauge; therefore, as long as there is liquid in the tube side, that section will be filled with liquid, and the level gauge will no longer be able to measure the liquid level in the tube side If only underreporting is the case, it can be explained by the fact that when all sections of this pipeline are filled with gas, there is steam waste, and measures need to be taken; but what about overreporting?
Perhaps this can illustrate that foreigners have a very refined approach to production management, while ours is still quite rudimentary.
Your heating medium is steam, right? It’s heated using steam, with the steam flowing through the tube side. Condensate water is generated, so a steam-water separator is necessary in that case. Is it possible to measure the liquid level in the steam-water separator? If I’m not mistaken, the steam-water separator can serve as a substitute for a drain valve; however, it’s better to install another drain valve after the steam-water separator, as it’s difficult to maintain a stable level of condensate water during operation
