This post was last edited by YORK Industrial Refrigeration on 2018-3-27 at 08:46. This year’s 【Daily Question】is divided into three categories: screw refrigeration compressors, refrigeration systems, and oil circuit systems, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of refrigeration technology. (If you encounter something you don’t know or can’t answer, please actively look up information; as you do so, your skills will improve!) ) All participants in the comments on this post will receive 1-3 wealth points; those who give complete answers will receive 10-15 points, with the validity period being two days. ============================== Basic structure and characteristics of screw refrigeration compressors (5): The position marked in the diagram is the radial suction port located on the casing. What is its function? Answer: It allows gas to flow directly into the elementary volume formed by the cavities of the male and female rotors along the vertical direction of the rotor axis, ensuring uniform air intake in each tooth groove of the rotors, pressure balance, reduced suction resistance and internal leakage in the compressor, and an increased amount of air drawn in by the compressor. ============================== High-quality promotions: Mechanical equipment——Videos on the repair and calibration of York compressors https://bbs.hcbbs.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1806833 Mechanical equipment——Maintenance procedures for York screw compressors https://bbs.hcbbs.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=1806833 Mechanical equipment——Upgrading of York Quinton control centers https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-1804837-1-1.html Mechanical equipment——Major repairs of GEA Grasox screw compressors https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-1800467-1-1.html Mechanical equipment——Disassembly and maintenance of British HOWDEN screw compressors https://bbs.hcbbs.com/thread-1832529-1-1.html Mechanical equipment——Disassembly and maintenance of Japanese Maekawa MYCOM screw compressors https://bbs.hcbbs.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=
1. Inflation process: The screw-type intake port on the intake side must be designed in such a way that the compression chamber can draw in sufficient air. Screw compressors do not have separate intake and exhaust valve assemblies; instead, air intake is regulated by the opening and closing of a control valve. When this valve opens, external air is drawn in and flows axially into the tooth grooves of the main and auxiliary rotors. When the gas fills the entire tooth groove, the intake-side end face of the rotor moves away from the intake port of the casing, thereby sealing the gas within the tooth grooves. 2. Function of the radial intake: It allows gas to flow directly into the elementary volume formed by the cavities of the male and female rotors along the vertical direction of the rotor axis, ensuring uniform gas intake in each tooth groove of the rotors, pressure balance, reduction of suction resistance and internal leakage in the compressor, and an increase in the compressor’s suction capacity.
It can serve as a vent path for the gas during compression.
After entering through the intake port, the gas enters between the male and female rotors for compression.

Radial suction ports that meet the requirements of the rotor’s rotation angle are provided at the casing area, ensuring a smooth suction process as the rotor rotates.
