There is a pump with H=85m, and the required head is H=40m; how can the feed water head be reduced?
There are two approaches: one starts with the pump, and the other starts with the pipes. 1) If the pump itself is a variable-frequency motor, the pump’s speed can be reduced; Or reduce the impeller diameter ; 2) Increase the pump outlet diameter ; 3) Apply partial reflux
The most energy-efficient approach is to replace it; next is using an inverter-driven motor to operate at reduced speed; thirdly, replacing the cutting impeller is the most cost-effective option at the moment
When the equipment cannot be changed, the most feasible approach is to increase the feedback flow rate.
This post was last edited by tie008 on 2018-7-24 10:58. 1) Meets the requirements set by the original poster; 2) Increasing the diameter of the outlet pipe will reduce the pump’s outlet head (to less than 40 meters); in such a case, the pump with a 85-meter head still requires outlet throttling, otherwise overcurrent will occur. 3) Dual-control regulation is used to adjust flow rate, and it has little impact on head. To meet the conditions specified by the user: 1) Replace the drive motor with an inverter-driven motor and add an inverter – this is more energy-efficient ; 2) Based on the performance curve, check whether it’s possible to cut the impeller~~~~ It requires the least investment and offers good energy-saving effects; however, once this is done, it cannot be undone~~~~ 3) Adjusting the opening of the outlet control valve~~~~ This does not result in energy savings, and the components used for throttling in the valve have a shorter lifespan, but it is the most convenient method~~~~ .....
Guys, cutting the impeller or using variable frequency drives will both change the flow rate; if you don’t want the flow rate to change
As requested by the original poster, the only option is to find a used unit and purchase a new pump~~~~~~~~:lol (although both cutting the impeller and using variable frequency technology would meet the requirements from an engineering perspective).....
