For the cross-section of a cylinder, how can an ellipse be drawn to scale using CAD?
It’s likely not a standard ellipse; it is recommended to use 3D modeling. By cutting along cross-sections and then converting the 3D model into a 2D projection, a closer approximation can be achieved, although it will still consist of small line segments connected together.
If CAD is required, then model at an accurate scale in CAD now, create cross-sections, and then project them. Given that what is ultimately desired is a projection, it is recommended to customize the coordinate system used for modeling based on the angle of the cross-section; by using the original coordinate plane for the projection, no post-processing is needed, and the result can be used directly. :)
