A minor issue with the operation of the mixing tank

A material preparation tank: after each preparation, the material is transferred to the next intermediate tank for storage, after which new material is prepared, and this process is repeated. The question now is, during the process of transferring material from the mixing tank to the intermediate tank, should a certain level of liquid remain in the mixing tank, or is it considered complete once the transfer pump has emptied it? If the pump has to be stopped every time, wouldn’t that cause too much damage to it? Is it possible to design a system that stops the pump when the pressure at its outlet drops? Is there still some other good way?
Whether to leave some material in place depends on whether that material is prone to bacterial growth, or whether there are any requirements regarding the bacteria present in it. If there are such requirements and the processing frequency is not high, then it’s unnecessary to maintain a certain liquid level; otherwise, a liquid level interlock should be set up, with the pump stopping when the level drops to a certain threshold
