This issue relates to explosion prevention, fire protection in Class A factories, as well as the high-temperature safety of heat transfer oils, and it indeed needs to be handled with care. A thermal oil electric heater operating at 380°C generates high temperatures; if the flash point of the thermal oil is not selected appropriately or if the heater’s sealing is inadequate, leaks can lead to contact with high-temperature surfaces or electrical sparks, resulting in significant risks. It is recommended that you focus on verifying the following points: whether the heater itself has an explosion-proof certification, and whether its suitable application area matches the classification of Class A factories (such as Ex d IIB T3/T4). Ensure that the flash point and auto-ignition temperature of the heat transfer oil are higher than the maximum surface temperature of the heater, which is 380°C, in order to prevent thermal decomposition or auto-ignition of the oil. Heater placement: Can it be installed in a non-explosion-proof area on the exterior wall of the factory building or in a dedicated heat medium room, with the heat being introduced via pipes? This can reduce the risk of direct installation within the factory building. For such issues, it is best to consult the local safety assessment agencies or the process/electrical departments of design firms, so as to conduct an assessment based on the specific conditions of the project – after all, safety comes first.
