SPS stands for Stoner Pipeline Simulator; it is a simulation software for long-distance oil and gas pipelines, developed by Stoner Company’s SPS (Stoner Pipeline Simulator). This software enables offline, real-time simulation calculations for long-distance pipelines, and it is recognized worldwide as a high-precision tool for the design, calculation, and automated control simulation of long-distance oil (gas) pipelines. It is widely used in the steady-state and transient calculations of liquid pipeline networks, and has been applied in numerous domestic research and design projects for oil pipelines. SPS (Stoner Pipeline Simulator) creates a pipeline model that mirrors the main processes and equipment parameters of an actual pipeline by inputting parameters such as pipeline length, diameter, the characteristic curve functions of the oil transfer pumps, the characteristic curve functions of control valves, pressure relief valves, elevation data along the pipeline, and properties of the fluid. Through steady-state simulations of this pipeline model, it assesses the adaptability of the equipment under various transportation conditions, and optimizes the control parameters for the equipment based on the simulation results ; Parameters under various accident conditions are obtained through transient simulations of the pipelines, and pre-protective plans are formulated based on these results. Offline simulation allows for the predetermined setting of key equipment parameters during pipeline design, thereby enabling the optimization of pipeline design ; It is also possible, after the pipeline is built, to further optimize the parameter settings through offline simulation of the pipeline, thereby ensuring its safe, stable, and energy-efficient operation.
