When transporting methanol-propane mixtures using shielded pumps, are there any special things that need to be paid attention to when using split-case pumps? Is the risk level high?
As long as the startup procedures for shielded pumps are followed properly, there is no danger; methanol and propylene are both conventional fluids, so no issues arise
The design of the pump should already take into account use with flammable and explosive media such as methanol and propanol; therefore, it can be operated simply by following the operating procedures. For example, with a centrifugal pump, the pump should be started first and then the valve; start it at 30% opening, check the current value to ensure it is normal, then increase it to 80% and finally to 100%.
It’s the same as a centrifugal pump; there’s nothing special about it
