Can we ignore the trivialities? For example, if there is an AI table or PI table associated with the PID located behind the FV control valve, could it be moved in front of the control valve to keep the layout of the interface simpler and clearer?
I think it’s not appropriate to change the location if the display on your DCS is also supposed to reflect the contents of the PID intuitively
Of course not; a pressure gauge (PI) placed before and after a control valve are two completely different things. Because the control valve also has a pressure drop, the readings taken before and after it are different, and their meanings are also different. But the online analysis (AI) component should be fine. You’d better respect the engineer who came up with the PID; otherwise, it will cause a lot of trouble if problems arise in the future.

Feedforward control and feedback control in DCS are two completely different concepts; their operation methods and principles are opposite to each other. One should not experiment with these casually – safety comes first
