Recently, due to safety requirements, the Safety Supervision Bureau has ordered our companies to install quick shut-off valves at the inlet and outlet of the semi-water gas cylinders. I’m really interested in knowing whether other professionals are facing the same issue or have already installed quick shut-off valves. I also want to ask whether quick shut-off valves can be installed on semi-water gas pipelines? (intermittent furnace)
For things like synthetic ammonia and DN800 pipelines, gas should be used rather than circulating water. Safety inspectors and such shouldn’t just start giving orders arbitrarily; they have no proper knowledge yet still dare to give instructions blindly. Do they think there aren’t enough accidents already? I think for something like this to be changed, the design institute needs to issue a change order
Right, right, “for things like this, the design institute needs to issue a change order.” However, it seems that each valve is part of a shutdown system consisting of an electric butterfly valve followed by an electric blind valve; no quick-shut valves were seen, and the diameter is still so large. However, it must be installed on the user’s device. Oh, it seems there’s a quick cut-off for the water seal; it might be worth taking a look at. However, it must be based on the principle that “such matters need to be changed through revisions by the design institute”!

How fast does the quick shut-off valve need to be? The pressure in the semi-water gas holder is not high anyway, and the pipes are large; a safety water seal seems sufficient. Whether electric or pneumatic, cut-off valves are prone to operational errors and other problems. If issues arise at the inlet or outlet and cannot be resolved promptly, the entire plant has to be shut down. Accidents in chemical enterprises often occur during startup, shutdown, and maintenance phases, which undoubtedly increases the likelihood of such accidents.
