According to GB 51066-2014 Safety Technical Specifications for Dry Gas Cylinders in Industrial Enterprises, the oxygen content in the feed gas shall not exceed 2%; however, there is no requirement to install an oxygen content analyzer on the equipment itself. Is it necessary to install such an analyzer?
There’s no need for that; if you want to measure the oxygen content, you can take samples from the pipes leading into the gas tank. Why go ahead and install an oxygen analyzer on the gas tank itself? Typical gas cabinets are equipped with sampling ports, and samples can be taken for analysis during each shift. The guidelines only provide you with principles; as for how to apply those principles, there’s no need to be too rigid about it. . . For example, it’s like how people brush their teeth every day. Just as the oxygen concentration cannot exceed 2%, some people use toothbrushes that cost 2 yuan each for manual sampling and analysis, while wealthier people use electric toothbrushes that cost thousands of yuan and are equipped with built-in online oxygen analyzers. As long as one brushes their teeth, that’s enough – it’s that simple.
An online oxygen analyzer is installed on the pipeline in front of the gas holder; a durable magnetic oxygen type will do, or an electrochemical one as well.
