Question: The polymerization process is included among the \"First Batch of Hazardous Chemical Processes Subject to Intensive Supervision\"; however, the \"Adjusted First Batch of Hazardous Chemical Processes Subject to Intensive Supervision\" states that production processes under atmospheric pressure that are used in the manufacture of coatings, adhesives, paints, and similar products are no longer classified as \"polymerization processes\". So, for the polymerization reaction of vinyl acetate in emulsion production, should it be designed as a hazardous process or not? I checked the literature, and the polymerization reaction of vinyl acetate is quite dangerous.
Please note that it is under normal pressure conditions; high pressure is not a key factor in the process
Mine is a reaction at atmospheric pressure, but it’s typical emulsion production
If it is typical, then it is a process that requires close supervision
Will it ultimately be determined as a hazardous chemical process requiring close supervision?
The Reaction Safety Risk Assessment should be conducted in accordance with the Guidelines for Reaction Safety Risk Assessment in Fine Chemical Industries (Trial), No. 3 (2017) issued by the General Administration of Work Safety, before deciding whether such chemical processes constitute high-risk processes that require special supervision. It is related to various factors such as specific reaction conditions, feed ratios, conversion rate, reaction heat, and adiabatic temperature rise of the reaction.
