Recently, a slight abnormal noise was detected in the return water pipeline of the condenser at the top of the distillation tower. The cooling medium used is circulating water; there is a control valve for the inlet water, and the return water valve is fully open. What could be causing this slight noise?
Is the air not fully exhausted? Why is a control valve installed at the water inlet? When the opening degree of the control valve is too small, why doesn’t the pipe side experience vaporization and overpressure?
It is possible that bubbles were generated during the operation of the control valve and accumulated in the condenser. Usually, we install the control valve on the return water pipeline for regulation, with the inlet valve fully open.

There may be gas accumulation in the return pipeline. The gas may be the result of air escaping and accumulating in the circulating water, or it may be caused by water vaporization due to high temperatures. Generally, a manual or automatic vent valve is installed at the highest point of the return pipe. If it is necessary to control the condensate temperature, a control valve should be installed on the return pipe.
There must be non-condensable gas inside; just blow on it to get rid of it
Thank you, I’ve found the cause. Due to the circulation water of the heat exchanger in the adjacent system being shut off by the operator, the circulation water temperature in this system became too high, which in turn affected the circulation water of the adjacent system
In any case, a control valve should be installed on the return water side, not on the inlet water side
