Set pressure of the safety valve on the liquid chlorine storage tank

The operating pressure of the relief device shall not be greater than the design pressure,......” ” \"Determination of Design Pressure and Design Temperature for Equipment and Piping Systems\" (HG/T 20570.1–95) \"2.1.0.5.6 Containers for storing liquefied gases: (1) For pressure vessels used to store liquefied gases with a critical temperature above 50°C, if reliable insulation is provided, the maximum pressure shall be equal to the saturated vapor pressure of the liquefied gas at its highest possible operating temperature; if no insulation is available, the maximum pressure shall not be lower than the saturated vapor pressure of that liquefied gas at 50°C.\" (2) For pressure vessels containing liquefied gases with a critical temperature of less than 50°C, if they are equipped with reliable insulation to ensure storage at low temperatures, their maximum pressure shall not be lower than the saturated vapor pressure at the highest measured temperature; for pressure vessels without such measurement data or without insulation, their maximum pressure shall not be lower than the gas pressure of the liquefied gas at a temperature of 50°C when the maximum allowable filling volume is reached. ” The saturated vapor pressure of liquid chlorine at 50°C is 1.42 MPag; therefore, the maximum pressure in the liquid chlorine storage tank must not be lower than 1.42 MPag. Hence, the design pressure for such tanks is set at 1.62 MPag. The operating pressure of the safety valve should not exceed this design pressure of 1.62 MPag.

The set pressure for the safety valve of typical liquid chlorine storage tanks is between 1.45 and 1.5

The design standard here for 2009 is 0.8 MPa
