When planning the equipment layout for a fine chemical production workshop, the client requested that lifting holes be installed on the workshop floor. However, I wonder if placing them in the middle of the floor might not be safe Is it necessary to install it against a wall? I found some guidelines regarding equipment layout, but there are no clear instructions on how to arrange things like platforms. So, based on everyone’s experience, where is it generally reasonable to locate the lifting points used to lift materials during the production process?

Well, this lifting opening is mainly used to lift materials onto the feeding platform for feeding purposes; therefore, I left plenty of space on the sides. Considering various factors, I thought placing the lifting opening in the middle could save some labor. However, I’m worried that having it in the middle might not be safe. The chemical engineering design manual states that, when the plant is short due to the equipment located on the floors, the lifting hole should be placed at the end near the gable wall; if the length of the plant exceeds 36 meters, the lifting hole should be located in the center of the plant. The lifting holes should not be made too large; generally, they are kept at 2.7 meters. For larger equipment, installation walls or installation doors are required.
