I have an automatic control system for temperature and pressure reduction on the steam pipeline (reducing 6KG of saturated steam to 4KG), and there is also an automatic steam flow regulation circuit. It seems that the valve size chosen is too large; even at an opening degree of around 2%, the steam flow already reaches, or sometimes exceeds, the required level. I’ve observed that the temperature/pressure reduction mechanism and the steam flow regulation system affect each other, resulting in significant fluctuations that make it impossible to achieve stability. Do anyone have any good suggestions, from either an automated control or operational perspective?
We have a heat tracing station as well as this control system. . . .
I would also like to ask how this setup is controlled at the moment, and how is its performance?
Close the manual valve in front of the automatically regulating valve first
Large-diameter hand valves are difficult to control; it’s entirely a matter of luck
While ensuring the steam temperature remains constant, reduce the pressure of the steam by closing the pressure relief valve; this will lower the flow rate, resulting in an immediate decrease in instantaneous flow, after which the steam flow control valve can then adjust automatically
Manual flow control valves are equipped with upstream and downstream manual valves, enabling the control valve to operate over a wide range
We’ve encountered that situation too; it’s fine to leave the pressure unchanged in the end
Is it sufficient for you to keep the steam pressure stable? But we still need to maintain a certain steam flow rate; there are requirements regarding this flow rate
