Can PE pipes be used as buried sleeves?

When the distance between buried gas PE pipes and surrounding buildings is insufficient, it is necessary to add sleeves to reduce this distance. Can PE pipes be used as these additional sleeves? If PE pipes cannot be used as sleeves, what is the reason for that?
Yes, the function of the sleeve is mainly to allow the tube inside it to expand and contract; it’s best if the sleeve can be fixed in place.
Steel pipes are generally used; I’ve never seen ones with PE sleeves. The sleeve serves two purposes: it protects the pipe inside from damage and prevents leaks from spreading to the surrounding area
It depends on where the buried sleeve is used and what function it serves. If it is intended for protective purposes, the strength of PE pipes is insufficient; steel pipes should be used instead.
