In chemical plants, can combustible gas venting be released directly into the atmosphere? Do I still have to go to the torch? For toxic liquids, should they be discharged on-site directly or collected together for discharge? What are the standard codes?
All must meet the emission standards after treatment; specific treatment methods are outlined in the environmental assessment report, and those who violate these regulations shall face criminal and civil liabilities.
If the environmental impact assessment for exhaust gases states that it is released into the atmosphere, then it is approved. If a rule is violated later on, is it rectification, a fine, or even arrest?
If the combustible gas has an acceptable sulfur content, it can be burned in a flare; if the sulfur content is not acceptable, it must be treated to meet the standards before being sent to a flare. Under no circumstances should it be released directly into the atmosphere. Toxic liquids must definitely be properly treated before they can be discharged, but they can be pre-treated and then sent to a wastewater treatment plant for further processing.
