Can wire be used to fix electric heat tracing to pipelines? What are the risks?
I remember that we used the first type of material as fasteners here; using wire for fixation would likely cause some damage to the electric heating material, as the area under stress is much smaller than that of the materials specified.
There are special high-temperature resistant tapes, which are white and cloth-like in appearance.
Using aluminum foil tape provides good heat transfer
Self-adhesive wide aluminum foil strips are inexpensive and provide good fixing performance; they are widely used for securing electric heat tracing, are suitable for bulk processing, and help to control costs.
Wire can also be used; be careful with the tension of the binding to avoid damaging the electric heating protective cover. After fixing it, cover it with insulation material, and then enclose it and secure it with a stainless steel sheet shell. Of course, it’s also possible to reserve a small slanted slot for inserting a glass thermometer (which is inexpensive, easy to use, and can be removed as needed); or a temperature sensor can be used, though it’s more expensive and not necessary. This way, the temperature can be monitored at any time.
