A beginner in R&D positions at a pharmaceutical company seeking help

Hello, everyone! I have just started working at a pharmaceutical company, in the research and development department. The process generally involves: the superior giving you a relatively mature (or not so mature) product manufacturing process, and asking you to conduct reaction tests based on pilot tests. If necessary, participate in the subsequent expansion of production. Since I used to work in production management, I am not familiar with R&D. I hope some seniors can share details about research and development positions; your experience will be extremely valuable to me! Also, are there any books suitable for learning what is needed for this research work? I would like to expand my professional knowledge.

If that’s okay, I’m not afraid of loneliness. Loneliness means having a lot of time; I want to use that extra time to learn English, obtain an intermediate skill certificate, read books, and also have time to rest and do other things. For now, it’s good enough to do the work well.
