How to choose between integrated and separate ultrasonic flowmeters, and what are the differences?
The biggest difference is the name: an integrated type consists of a single unit, while a split-type involves more than one unit – at least three, namely the detection probe, the converter, and the special cable.
Compared to integrated ultrasonic flowmeters, split-type ultrasonic flowmeters are more favored by the public in certain special applications. Industrial sites are complex, and it’s common for certain pipeline locations to be at relatively high heights, making it difficult to read data using integrated ultrasonic flowmeters. In such cases, flow accumulators are sometimes used to address this issue, but this increases costs. For customers, the best solution is to use split-type ultrasonic flowmeters. Additionally, some of the pipelines in the field are underground, making observation difficult. There is also a high level of groundwater vapor; if the integrated ultrasonic flow meter is installed in such an environment for an extended period, water can easily get inside it, leading to damage to the device.

We also used split-type ultrasonic flowmeters, as the ducts vibrate quite heavily; the integrated type would constantly damage its gauge head, so we switched to split-type ones.
