In vacuum distillation with a side stream for product extraction, gas-phase extraction is used, at the lower layer of the feed plate where pressure and temperature are normal; however, the heavy components in the side stream product exceed the specified limits. I would appreciate it if experienced colleagues could advise me on the reasons for this and possible solutions.

Check whether the feed composition differs from the design; if the concentration of the heavy components is too high, it will result in an excessive level of such components in the product stream. If the pressure is normal, it indicates that there is no issue with the flux through the trays. However, check whether the temperature at the bottom of the tower is too high. Also, examine whether the reflux rate at the top of the tower is too low, as this could cause a shift in the gas-liquid equilibrium
What I’ve learned is that side-line discharge occurs at the trays above the feed plate, for both the gas phase and liquid phase discharges. In your case, since discharge takes place below the feed plate, the concentration of Reorganization components is higher. You can see this by looking at my side-line discharge operation diagram
