Are there any size requirements for installing emergency shut-off devices on storage tanks? For example, is it necessary to install one on a 25-cubic-meter methanol storage tank?

Interim Provisions on the Supervision and Management of Major Hazard Sources of Hazardous Chemicals (**Order No. 40 of the State Administration of Work Safety**):. Emergency shut-off devices are installed for key facilities such as toxic gases, highly toxic liquids, and flammable gases among major hazard sources. The hazardous chemical storage areas that constitute Class I and Class II major hazard sources should be equipped with emergency shut-off functions and kept in operational status ; Primary or secondary major hazard sources involving toxic gases, liquefied gases, and highly toxic liquids shall be equipped with an independent Safety Instrumented System (SIS). Therefore, whether an emergency shut-off device is needed for this storage tank depends on whether it constitutes a major hazard source and what level of severity that hazard represents, as well as on whether it involves toxic gases, highly toxic liquids, or flammable gases.

In multi-tank systems, all tanks should be shut off at once; otherwise, how can isolation be achieved?

How large is the pipeline, and what size are the normal valves?
