On April 29, the lifting of the sulfur recovery flue gas purification tower, the tallest equipment in Jiutai New Materials’ entire plant, was completed. The total height of the sulfur recovery flue gas purification tower is 100m. To reduce the amount of work required at high altitudes, the assembly is carried out in sections on the ground, with lifting performed in stages and subsequent joining done in the air. To ensure the successful completion of the hoisting work before the onset of the windy season, the company, in collaboration with the project participants, organized everything carefully and made sound arrangements, formulating a detailed construction plan. Despite two changes in working conditions as well as the impact of adverse weather, they managed to reduce the actual construction period to 20 days, completing the planned tasks one week ahead of schedule. This created favorable conditions for the subsequent installation of pipelines in the sulfur recovery unit area and for the steady progress of the overall project. Inner Mongolia Jiutai New Materials Co., Ltd. was established in March 2017 and is located in the Tuoketuo Industrial Park in Hohhot, the capital of Inner Mongolia. The company’s total land area is 2,565 mu, with a total investment of 11.7 billion yuan. The capacity of the first phase of this plant’s construction is 1 million tons per year of ethylene glycol production. The plant utilizes aerospace powder gasification and Shell’s gasification technologies, low-temperature methanol washing technology, as well as the world-leading formaldehyde hydroxycarboxylation technology developed by Davy Company to produce ethylene glycol. The project construction period is 3 years, with trial operation in 2020 and full production starting in 2021. After going into production, it is possible to achieve annual sales of 10.6 billion yuan and profits and taxes of 3.66 billion yuan. Source: Refining and Petrochemical News
