I would like to ask how the maximum allowable amount of a substance in a production unit is determined. Is it usually based on the entire workshop, or is it specified for individual units? If the entire workshop is taken into consideration, then is this quantity determined based on the amount per batch, or on some other data?
Volume of intermediate storage tanks essential for the production process: It should be as small as possible while still meeting the requirements of the processes before and after production. In batch processes, the volume should be at least enough to hold one batch and at most two batches; in continuous processes, it should cover no more than one shift but at least 1 hour. Meanwhile, overall planning should be taken into account to reduce the number of different tank volumes required.

The tank area is indeed calculated based on the maximum capacity of hazardous material tanks, but for production units, it’s not feasible to use this figure to determine the amount of substance present in the equipment. It’s unclear how the design institute considered this maximum capacity when making the design decisions.
