The company has a tower (a solvent recovery tower), and the volume of material processed through it varies significantly and quite frequently. To stabilize production, I am considering installing an APC system here; I was wondering how much it would cost approximately? I would appreciate your advice. (The company uses Honeywell’s PKS R510, but has not purchased APC’s related functions.) )
What is APC? ? Automatic control system?
APC: Advanced Process Control, an advanced control method that differs from traditional control approaches. It generally refers to model-based predictive control. Generally, DCS suppliers do not provide APCs, unless purchased as a custom order. It is also possible to connect a computer via OPC, build a predictive model of the process under control in that computer, and carry out predictive control. The three most commonly used control algorithms are Dynamic Matrix Control (DMC), Generalized Predictive Control (GPC), and Model Algorithm Control (MAC). APC cannot be achieved simply by purchasing a system.
Thank you for the advice. What I mean is the total cost of implementing the project, including the associated software/hardware. Our DCS is Honeywell’s PKS; although the version used allows for APC customization, the company has not purchased it. I’m not sure if you’re aware that, if 1: directly add the functions required by APC to the DCS ; 2. Use OPC to connect to a computer for predictive control. ——What is the approximate total cost for these two methods?
You can consult Honeywell Corporation. Honeywell will provide a quote based on your requirements and the conditions you can offer (process parameters, data samples, performance of existing systems, etc.). The situation is quite complex, and it’s impossible to predict.
Okay, thank you. We want to gather some information first before contacting the technical team, so we don’t end up just listening to them during the conversation.:)
I’ve studied it, and it’s clear that my understanding of DCS is still only superficial: L
