What is the static head related to? The static pressure of a centrifugal pump generally refers to the system pressure. There are several forms in which static pressure can appear; giving examples makes it clearer; If the pump is installed at the bottom of a floor and the pipes in that floor are filled with water, with those pipes connected to the pump, then the pressure at the pump inlet will be equivalent to the height of the water in the pipes; this pressure is the static pressure at the pump inlet. Additionally, any pressure inherent in the system that is not generated by the operation of the pump is also considered static pressure.
Static pressure energy, which you can also think of as gravitational potential energy, is the static pressure head corresponding to a certain elevation; the fluid is either at rest or moving in a relatively stable manner
