Our company currently uses packed towers for the deep dehydration of hydrochloric acid; previously, we used stepped rings, but the high temperature required for this process caused those rings to deform. Now we are using graphite Lassell rings, yet their dispersion effect is not good. I would like to ask experts: what type of packing is best for the deep dehydration of hydrochloric acid, taking into account both performance and cost?
For this kind of thing, one must consider the corrosiveness of the medium and the viscosity of the liquid. Of course, the larger the area for liquid distribution, the better.

It must be a bit more difficult to manufacture. For stainless steel packing, the prices of the two types are almost the same. Raschig rings are made by rolling iron strips together, while Pall ring is formed by pressing iron strips first and then rolling them; at modern industrial levels, the costs are similar. I’m not familiar with the manufacturing process for non-metallic materials, and it’s likely that such materials will break easily under pressure, making them difficult to process
Non-metallic structured packing is a good option, but the price should be taken into consideration to find the best solution.
