I would like to ask the experts: in chemical engineering design, when the medium for safety valves is a liquid phase, specifically a flammable liquid. Should a collection tank be installed at the outlet of the safety valves? And should this collection tank be placed at the top or bottom of the building? Since there are 4 floors, each floor has safety valves.

The fire protection design standards for petrochemical enterprises, GB50160-2008 (2018 edition), 5.5.4 stipulate that the outlets of safety valves on equipment handling flammable gases and flammable liquids must comply with the following requirements: 1. The discharge pipes connected to the safety valves of equipment handling flammable liquids should be connected to storage tanks or other containers; whereas the discharge pipes connected to the safety valves of pumps should preferably be connected to the pump’s inlet pipeline, towers, or other containers; 2. The discharge pipe at the outlet of the safety valve of combustible gas equipment shall be connected to a flare system or other safety discharge facilities ; 3. Combustible gases or liquids that may ignite immediately after release should be cooled before being connected to the venting facilities ; 4. Combustible gases that may contain liquid droplets should be passed through a liquid separation tank before being connected to the flare system. The collection tank is placed at a low point for safety, as placing it at a high point would cause flammable liquids to remain in the pipes, posing a safety risk.
It definitely cannot be discharged arbitrarily; combustible liquids present various levels of fire hazard. Furthermore, the condition of the material (temperature, pressure, composition, etc.) must also be taken into account, and a decision is made after considering all factors regarding the final destination.
