The country’s first industrial demonstration plant using this “coal-based solid waste fiberization technology” on a 10,000-ton-per-year scale has finished all system tests at Huaneng Yangliuqing Thermal Power Plant. The successful production of \"coal-derived fiber\" materials using coal-based solid waste as raw material, and the transformation of industrial waste into high-value fibers, signify that this breakthrough technology has made the crucial transition from the laboratory to industrial application. The traditional storage methods for coal-based solid waste from coal-fired power plants present issues such as land occupation and dust pollution; the resource utilization of this waste is one of the challenges in the green transformation of the thermal power industry. In response to this, Huaneng Yangliuqing Thermal Power Plant, in collaboration with Xi’an Thermal Engineering Institute, went through various stages such as analysis and research, pilot tests, scale-up tests, and project construction. It successfully overcame technical challenges related to raw material pretreatment and high-temperature fiberization, establishing a fully closed-loop production system that enabled independent control over the key processes. Through a comprehensive treatment process of fibrous restructuring of coal-based solid waste from coal-fired power plants, this waste is transformed into white “coal-derived fiber” materials. These materials can be used in the production of insulation materials, in the reforestation of mines, in slope stabilization, and in photovoltaic-based sand control projects. They help to address the challenge of recycling coal-based solid waste from coal-fired power plants, thereby providing a practical foundation for the green upgrading of traditional industries and the protection of the ecological environment.
