The 100,000-ton/year carbon tetrafluoride technical upgrade project at Shandong Kenli Petrochemical is set to be approved. On October 8th, the Dongying Ecology and Environment Bureau published its approval comments regarding the environmental impact assessment document for the technical upgrade project of Shandong Kenli Petrochemical Group Co., Ltd.’s 100,000-ton/year butadiene production facility. Building on a 100,000 tons per year butadiene plant, the project eliminates the oxidation-dehydrogenation and solvent absorption units as well as the post-acetonitrile and product purification units; it makes use of the etherification and pre-acetonitrile units. Equipment such as reactors, towers, heating furnaces, heat exchangers, air coolers, and compressors is purchased, while hydrogenation and isomerization units as well as an MTBE unit are upgraded and constructed. Upon completion of the renovation, it will be able to produce 106,500 tons of MTBE per year, along with 76,800 tons of isobutane, 57,400 tons of n-butane, and 5,800 tons of light hydrocarbons. The total investment for the project is 175.01 million yuan, with 1.615 million yuan allocated to environmental protection measures.
