Sinochem Energy’s Petrochemical Research Institute has successfully developed a new hydroxylamine antioxidant. Recently, the Polymer Materials Research Institute under Sinochem Energy managed to develop the new hydroxylamine antioxidant “SHY042”. This antioxidant can effectively address issues such as redening and yellowing at the ends of films made from polyethylene and polypropylene, as well as discoloration of fibers due to oxidation, thereby providing new technical support for the development of high-quality polyolefin products. As a key additive in the production of polyolefin materials, the performance and cost of hydroxylamine antioxidants directly affect the competitiveness of the products. For a long time, domestic similar products have suffered from issues such as low purity, high impurity content, and unstable performance, in addition to generally high market prices. To address these pain points in this industry, the Petrochemical Research Institute has conducted multiple rounds of technical research and development, resulting in the creation of a new synthesis process. This process not only increases the purity of antioxidant products by over 50%, but also reduces production costs significantly, while enhancing their stability and suitability. Currently, the SHY042 antioxidant has undergone industrial trials at Quanzhou Petrochemical. It has been successfully applied to a homopolymer polypropylene product. Following precise matching of this product with end-users by Sinochem Chemical Sales, it has gained widespread recognition in the market. To accelerate the transformation of technological achievements, the Polymer Materials Research Institute of the Petrochemical Research Institute is planning to build a production line capable of producing 100 tons of additives per year, with large-scale operation expected to begin by the end of 2026.
