Wanhua Chemical has developed an aldehyde-free adhesive for flexible circuit boards. On December 2, 2025, the **Intellectual Property Office made public an invention patent held by Wanhua Chemical Group Co., Ltd.** This patent relates to an adhesive for flexible printed circuit boards, as well as its preparation method and applications. Its preparation method involves first preparing an acrylate polymer containing aldehyde-functional groups, then adding glutaraldehyde to react with these groups, and finally adding phenol to polymerize with glutaraldehyde, thereby forming a phenol-formaldehyde resin through chemical bonding on the acrylate polymer chains. According to the patent abstract, this method uses glutaraldehyde in place of formaldehyde, thereby solving the problem of formaldehyde release from phenolic resins. Since the phenolic resin and acrylate polymer are connected by chemical bonds rather than through physical blending, the resulting adhesive film is more dense, resulting in improved bonding strength.
