Sinopec Yizheng Chemical Fibers is conducting tender processes for the procurement of para-phenylenediamine and terephthaloyl chloride; these are raw materials used in the new materials industry. It is a \"re-tendering\" – that is, the first tender may not have met the expected results, so a second tender is being held.
P-phenylenediamine, terephthaloyl chloride, and the like are all raw materials used for high-performance fibers and specialty engineering plastics. The notes indicate that Sinopec is accelerating its efforts in the field of new materials.
2. Sinopec Refining Division’s Project for Rectifying Hazards in the Control System of Refinery No. 3 – DCS bidding: 3001–4000 input points, 801–900 output points; 21 operation stations and 4 engineer stations. A typical refinery control system renovation project.
The retrofitting and intelligent upgrading of old equipment will be a major trend in the coming years. Think about it: many refineries in the country were built ten years ago or even twenty years ago, and their control systems are now due for an upgrade.
Moreover, the current upgrades are not simply about replacing equipment; they involve adding digital and intelligent functions such as predictive maintenance and digital twins. This represents a significant market opportunity for companies that develop industrial software and automation solutions.
3. Exclusive Agreement for the Procurement of Processing Services for Nanosheet Molecular Sieves by CNOOC Development – a three-year framework agreement covering the period 2026–2029.
Nanosheet molecular sieves are new materials used as catalysts; they have a larger specific surface area and higher catalytic efficiency compared to ordinary molecular sieves. CNOOC Development’s purchases over three consecutive years indicate that this technology has moved from the laboratory stage to industrial application.
4. Tender for Research and Application of Strain Monitoring Technology for FPSO Compartment Structures in CNOOC Offshore Development – This project falls under the category of intelligent monitoring in marine engineering. The structural health monitoring of FPSOs (Floating Production, Storage, and Offloading units) used to rely mainly on manual inspections, but now sensors are being installed along with data analysis systems.
This is essentially the implementation of industrial digitalization in specific sectors. Similar examples include pipeline corrosion monitoring, predictive equipment maintenance, and so on. In the future, there will be more and more projects of this “smart+” type.
First, large-scale projects are shifting to the Midwest. Whether it is the phosphate chemicals industry in Yunnan, energy storage projects in Guizhou, or environmental protection projects in Hubei, all indicate that the central and western regions are becoming new hotspots for investment. It is a general trend for many industries along the coast to move inland.
Second, new materials and new energy are truly in high demand. From project commencement to recruitment, and then to technology research and development, funds, talent, and policies are all flowing in these two directions.
