Mechanical completion of RSUN Biomaterials’ first commercial plant for bio-based THF and PTMEG

On April 20, Ruixun Biomaterials Co., Ltd. announced at the 2026 Chinaplas International Plastics and Rubber Exhibition that its first commercial production facility under the Carbon 4 platform, which utilizes bioTHF (bio-based tetrahydrofuran) and bioPTMEG (bio-based polytetrahydrofuran ether diol), would complete its mechanical construction by April 2026. The company also officially introduced Xatryx, the brand name for the new non-grain-based bio-based PTMEG products that will be manufactured at this facility. The C4 facility is located in Qidong City, Jiangsu Province, and utilizes process technologies independently developed by Ruixun Bio. The total investment in the factory amounts to 10 billion yuan, with construction planned in three phases; the ultimate goal is to achieve an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of bio-based materials. Among them, the first-phase commercial production project for bioTHF and bioPTMEG, with an annual output of 50,000 tons, has now been mechanically completed, and the first batch is expected to begin production in the second half of 2026. To achieve this goal, we make full use of abundant non-grain agricultural by-products, converting them directly into chemical raw materials, which are then used to produce Xatryx products through advanced thermochemical (ATC) technology. " As a second-generation bio-based material, Xatryx can directly replace fossil-based PTMEG, helping customers maintain excellent product performance in downstream applications such as spandex, polyurethanes, and thermoplastic elastomers, while reducing reliance on non-renewable materials. The key sustainable advantages of Xatryx’s bio-based PTMEG include reduced greenhouse gas emissions compared to fossil-based counterparts ； Bio-based products, with raw materials derived from annually renewable resources ； Uses second-generation bio-based materials (such as corn cobs), without competing with staple crops ； It effectively reduces dependence on non-renewable fossil fuels ； It can be used directly, allowing downstream customers to switch to bio-based materials without having to adjust their main manufacturing processes.
