The distance between the drain port of the magnetic flap level gauge and the lower flange is particularly long, at 800 mm+. Why is it so long?
Ours are also this long, but as I understand it, at this position: 1. there is a certain amount of space for solid deposits within the medium of magnetic flap level gauges; 2. when draining the system, especially with liquefied gases, if the pipe is too short, opening the waste discharge valve could result in toxic and harmful gases being ejected and reaching the person who is operating the valve... That’s why the pipe length is made a bit longer
As long as it does not affect the measurements, it can be considered for safe production
Since the float in a magnetic flap level gauge is designed based on the density of the medium and has a certain length (usually over 200 mm), in order to display the 【0】 position, the float must sink to that level; that is, the highest point of the float is at the 【0】 position. Additionally, due to the need for a drain section, the float generally needs to be extended downward.
I’ve never seen one this long, but I agree with the view from the second floor.
Indeed, sometimes we have seen very long ones; when designing the piping, we ask the manufacturer to shorten them
It’s the float inside that is long; its head represents the zero position. Note: The float must be heavy at the top and light at the bottom!

It could be due to low density, which requires a longer length; it might also be that the manufacturer chose thinner tubes in order to increase the volume by making them longer. Another possibility is high pressure, which necessitates a thicker wall thickness for the float ball
