I seek expert clarification on how DCS (or PLCs) communicate with Siemens PLCs through the EM277 DP communication module. Does the slave need to be programmed?
The upper-level computer requires a corresponding communication card and programming, while the lower-level computer also needs programming and a communication card
Your EM277 should act as a PROFIBUS SLAVE, with the DCS being the MASTER. In DCS, it is necessary to import the GSD file for the EM277, which can be downloaded from Siemens’ official website. Then configure IB and QB in DCS, corresponding to the V memory area of the S7200 CPU. Then, in MIRCO/WIN, store the data you want to communicate over in the corresponding V storage area.
