What is the temperature-sensitive liquid inside a self-acting temperature control valve?
That liquid has a strong odor, and a small portion of it is gel-like; is this temperature-sensitive wax? Thank you
Some people on the Internet say it is usually methanol or toluene. Not entirely sure, but it should be some kind of oil-based medium, similar to the silicone oil or ethylene glycol used in flange transmitters. At the very least, there is a temperature requirement – the room temperature must not drop below freezing.
A few temperature control valves in my workshop are leaking fluid; I’d like to add a similar liquid – any good suggestions? Thank you
I’m sorry; I just found that there are different types of temperature sensing elements used in self-acting temperature control valves, such as shape memory alloys and bimetallic strips, but currently wax-based temperature sensing elements are the most commonly used.
