I would like to ask whether an ultrasonic level gauge can be installed at the bottom of a container? In other words, it is a measurement method that emits sound waves from bottom to top.
It’s strange – why act like that? Direct contact with materials? The ultrasonic transmitter probably won’t be able to work properly, right? Is your material floating on the surface? Is it empty underground?
The top part is the head, and the bottom part is a metal rod.
I’ve never encountered such an installation method; will this affect the proper functioning of the instrument?

I don’t think so. An ultrasonic level gauge is a non-contact type of level gauge; it determines the distance from the sensor to the liquid surface by calculating the signals reflected back when ultrasonic waves hit the liquid surface. If it’s installed at the bottom, it probably won’t work – I’m not sure~
I read in a very old book that the probe should be placed at the bottom of the container...
It can be installed at the bottom of the storage tank, but outside that bottom; the container needs to be suspended and supported, and the medium must not contain any sediment. The storage tank cannot have any compartments, and its outer surface must be smooth. It is generally used in situations where opening holes is not feasible due to the presence of toxic substances, as it represents a last resort when no other level gauges are suitable
