Top-mounted ultrasonic level gauges require an opening at the top, and the atomization phenomenon above the medium can easily affect them. The sonar waves used by the external level gauge at the bottom of the tank are different from ultrasonic waves; their frequency is much higher. Moreover, installation requires no drilling, no shutdown of operations, and no use of fire.
This uses the principle of sonar wave ranging; it’s completely different from radar! The installation method is also different.
