How long is the typical service life of the diaphragm in a pneumatic diaphragm control valve? Is there a reference value? During equipment maintenance or routine upkeep, aside from those that are defective or worn out, how long is it generally used before replacement? So far, I have encountered two cases where the diaphragms of the control valves were leaking; in both cases, the tears occurred at the location where the screws for mounting the diaphragm head are used. This might also be due to improper installation of the diaphragm head at the time of assembly. But the usage time isn’t long, about 2 years! It’s not convenient to reveal which specific valve it is!

It can last for over a decade; it mainly depends on the quality and the medium used.
I also think it can be used for a long time, but I encountered an individual case that makes me suspect there might be a problem with the product quality. Both valves are in normal operation, and both are set to manual control.
Here, the minimum period is three months; there’s no maximum yet~~~ So far, only a few units have failed after three years, and wear and tear is definitely a factor
Personally, I think it is related to the output of the actuator and the pressure of the instrument air; assuming there are no issues with the product quality, high pressure of the instrument air can easily cause damage to the diaphragm.
The quality of the instrument air used in control valves has a significant impact on the integrity of the diaphragm. For example, if the pressure of the instrument air is too high, exceeding the normal operating pressure, it can cause damage to the diaphragm over time. Additionally, water and impurities present in the instrument air can lead to corrosion of the diaphragm. This isn’t a major issue, as control valves usually come equipped with repair kits, and it’s sufficient to replace the damaged parts promptly.
We’ve had it for less than a year, and the valve diaphragm head rusted and damaged the diaphragm; the manufacturer refuses to take responsibility.
The diaphragms of our company’s control valves have been in use for 10 years now, and not a single one out of the 100 has broken. :)
