As the title suggests, a rotameter intended for chlorine chlorination should have been used, but a liquid flow meter was purchased instead. Returns are not possible at the moment. I wonder what the error would be when using a liquid flow meter to measure gas flow? I hope the experts can give some guidance.
Which type of liquid flow meter? Or a rotameter?
It’s not possible to measure how much the density of a gas differs from that of a liquid What is the range ratio of a rotameter? Therefore, when measuring gas, it is entirely outside the range of the liquid rotameter.
Glass rotor? That won’t work anymore. One could even get this wrong, sigh.
Is the specification sheet wrong? If it’s not a mistake in the specifications, then it’s the manufacturer’s fault – why won’t they allow a return? If the density difference between the media is too large (gaseous, liquid), don’t try it – it won’t work……
In metal rotameters, when the density differences are large, the weight of the float also varies significantly.
They have different natures to begin with, and the requirements and parameters for their production are also different; as a result, the errors are large, making them unusable
Keep it; use it for technical upgrades or other new installations – you can’t return it anyway
