What kind of local flow meter is suitable for oil washing? Can a rotameter be used?
Did I not understand it properly, or.......... I’m not sure what medium you mean by ‘washing oil’
As I recall, the cleaning oil isn’t anything special, and its viscosity isn’t very high either. It should work, right?
Washing oil is the fraction in tar with a boiling point of around 200 to 300 degrees, containing a high amount of monocyclic and polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, as well as many heterocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons. Due to its good solubility for organic substances, it was previously mainly used to remove volatile components such as benzene and naphthalene from gas, which is why it is called Washing oil in English.
Rotary flow meters are not suitable, as the heavier components that are often present in most washing oils have a significant impact on their viscosity due to temperature; at low temperatures, sediment may form as well, and rotary flow meters may not perform well in such conditions. If a rotameter is used, good insulation or even low-temperature heating is required.
So what would be better? Please advise
For media with high viscosity, how about using a target flow meter?
I agree with your suggestion; additionally, it would be possible to install a wedge flow meter on-site, which could display the flow rate based on the differential pressure. It’s no longer easy to choose mechanical instruments that provide such on-site displays alone.
