As the title suggests, this shut-off valve operates slowly; sometimes, after not being used for a long time, it fails to open on the first attempt. Moreover, the φ6 air supply pipe used at that time was indeed a bit too long. I know that the air flow might not be sufficient, but could anyone explain the specific calculations or standards related to this?
Try changing the diameter of the air supply pipe to 1/2 inch
φ6 definitely won’t work; a 1/2 size can be used before the pressure reducing valve, while φ10 or φ12 can be used from the pressure reducing valve to the cylinder.
Do we need it to be this thick even after the pressure relief valve?
An 8-inch cut-off valve doesn’t require 1/2; a 10 or 12 gauge one is more than sufficient when used after a pressure regulator
It is related to the size of the cylinder; it can be calculated based on the desired action time. The 2013 version of the Petrochemical Gas Source Standards provides a formula for calculating such gas sources.
8 is about right; 6 is a bit too thin. If you want it to turn on and off quickly, it’s best to install a faster exhaust valve, which will help a lot.
It just feels like the 6 before the pressure relief valve is too long, so there isn’t enough air flow
