There is a control valve on a pipeline; in front of this valve, there is a orifice flow meter as well as an vortex flow meter. The control valve is in its fully closed position, so the flow rate measured by the orifice flow meter is zero. However, the vortex flow meter shows a flow rate of 15%. Now, it is necessary to reset the flow rate measured by the vortex flow meter – how should this be done?

1. Is the valve fully closed? A flow rate of 0 on the orifice plate does not mean that the actual flow rate is also 0; it is advisable to perform a zero-point check using the orifice plate. 2. Check whether there is vibration in the pipeline; if so, try to eliminate it. 3. Determine whether the flow rate at 15% of the maximum value remains stable. You can adjust the control valve slightly to see if this flow rate changes, and whether it varies in proportion to the degree of opening of the control valve. 4. If it is confirmed to be true zero drift, zero cutting can be performed temporarily; it is not a full reset
